Mike Gorodinsky (* 1986 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a professional American poker player . He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Gorodinsky was born in Leningrad , today's Saint Petersburg. Originally from St. Louis . Gorodinsky lives in Denver .

Poker career

Career

Gorodinsky learned poker by playing under the nickname gordo16 on the online poker platform PokerStars . Since 2008 he has been taking part in renowned live tournaments .

In mid-June 2009 Gorodinsky was the first time in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas successful and finished at a tournament of the variant PLO 42nd place for almost 5000 dollars . In January 2010, he won the 8 Game Championship at the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure on Paradise Island , winning over $ 100,000 in prize money for the first time. At the end of May 2013 , Gorodinsky prevailed in a WSOP event played in Omaha / Seven Card Stud Hi / Lo and won his first bracelet and a prize of more than 200,000 dollars. At the 2015 World Series of Poker , he finished second behind Phil Hellmuth in the Seven Card Razz Championship on June 6 and finished third in a six-handed tournament in No Limit Hold'em nine days later . On June 21, 2015, he won the renowned Poker Player's Championship and with it his second bracelet as well as his biggest prize money to date of almost 1.3 million dollars. In total, Gorodinsky reached four final tables that year and secured more than $ 1.7 million from eight cash placements. Because of this achievement, he was named WSOP Player of the Year 2015 . At the beginning of February 2018, Gorodinsky won the second event of the US Poker Open at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas with a prize of almost 180,000 dollars.

In total, Gorodinsky has earned more than three million dollars playing poker in live tournaments.
