Matthew Ashton (born June 8, 1988 ) is a professional British poker player from England .

Poker career

Ashton started playing poker in 2003 and focuses on playing cash games . He plays on the online poker platform PokerStars under the nickname MUSTAFABET and achieved a profit of around 1.3 million US dollars with cash games until March 2018 . In addition, Ashton won four tournaments on the platform of the Spring Championship of Online Poker , and in 2009 a title at the World Championship of Online Poker . Since 2010 he has also occasionally taken part in renowned live tournaments .

Ashton received his first live tournament prize money at side events of the European Poker Tour (EPT) and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures , which were played in the mixed variant 8-game . In June 2011 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and reached the final table at the HORSE Championship , which he finished in sixth for around 100,000 US dollars. At the EPT in Monte-Carlo in mid-May 2013 he won an 8-game tournament and received the main prize of 43,600 euros . At the 2013 WSOP , Ashton reached three final tables within two weeks, earning him just under $ 270,000 in prize money. He then prevailed at the US $ 50,000 Poker Player's Championship and secured a bracelet and a prize of almost US $ 1.8 million. He took the lead in the race for the WSOP Player of the Year Award , but was pushed to second place by Daniel Negreanu during the World Series of Poker Europe in October 2013 .
