Brian Rast (born November 8, 1981 in Denver , Colorado ) is a professional American poker player .
Rast has earned more than US $ 21.5 million playing poker in live tournaments . He is four-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker and won the July 2015 during Super High Roller Bowl . As part of the 50th edition of the World Series of Poker , Rast was named as one of the 50 best players in poker history in June 2019 .
Personal
Rast graduated from high school in Poway as the best in his class and later studied at Stanford University . In 2004 he made a trip to Europe and visited France , England , Italy , Spain and Cyprus as well as the Summer Olympics in Athens . Rast is married and has one son. He lives in Las Vegas .
Poker career
Career
Rast saw in 2003 the movie Rounders by John Dahl , who inspired him to play poker. He bought a few books and started playing for real money in casinos and at the end of 2006 under the nickname tsarrast at the online poker rooms Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars . He also played as kwistzhadrach at UltimateBet . His online poker tournament revenue is just under $ 800,000 . After making more than $ 20,000 in one summer, Rast let his studies slip and focused on his poker career.
In July 2005 , Rast first took part in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and finished 79th in a tournament with a $ 1,000 buy-in. At the 2011 WSOP he won a tournament in the variant Pot Limit Hold'em and his first bracelet and a prize money of 227,000 US dollars. Less than a month later, he prevailed at the renowned Poker Player's Championship, securing his second bracelet and more than $ 1.7 million in prize money. In July 2012 , Rast played the World Series of Poker's Big One for One Drop , which requires a million dollar buy-in. He finished sixth out of 48 participants and received $ 1.6 million for it. In early July 2015, he took part in the Super High Roller Bowl at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas with a buy-in of half a million dollars. He prevailed against 42 other players and thus secured a prize money of more than 7.5 million dollars. At the 2016 WSOP , Rast again won the Poker Player's Championship and received his third bracelet and the main prize of almost $ 1.3 million. Rast is a regular at poker tournaments at the Aria Resort & Casino , of which he has won six so far and with more than twelve million dollars secured the second-most prize money of all players after Jake Schindler . At the 2018 WSOP , Rast secured his fourth bracelet and a prize of around $ 260,000 by winning the No-Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw Championship . His last live cash placement to date was in December 2018.
From April to December 2016 Rast played as part of the Berlin Bears in the Global Poker League and reached the final with his team.
