Shaun Frank Deeb (born March 1, 1986 in Troy , New York ) is a professional American poker player .

The former online poker - world number one is four-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker (WSOP). In 2018 he was named WSOP Player of the Year . As part of the 50th edition of the World Series of Poker , Deeb was named as one of the 50 best players in poker history in June 2019 .

Personal

Deeb attended Troy High School and later studied at Bentley University in Waltham , Massachusetts . He has two children and lives in Las Vegas .

Poker career

Deeb learned the game of poker from his grandmother at the age of five. Since July 2006 he has been playing online under the nicknames shaundeeb ( PokerStars ) and tedsfishfry ( Full Tilt Poker ) . With more than 7 million US dollars from tournament winnings, he is one of the most famous online players and from July 16-29 , 2008, he was at the top of the PocketFives ranking for the first time , which lists the most successful online tournament players worldwide. From August 12th to September 23rd, 2009 he was able to stay in first place for 6 weeks. On PokerStars , he won two titles in the Spring Championship of Online Poker . He has won the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) eight times and is second behind Denis Strebkow among the WCOOP record winners .

In June 2007 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and cashed four times in the No Limit Hold'em variant . At the 2012 WSOP , Deeb reached a final table for the first time, finishing a Pot Limit Hold'em event in sixth place for around $ 85,000 in prize money. In January 2013, Deeb made the final table at a high roller event as part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures in the Bahamas and received nearly $ 300,000 for fifth place. In June 2015 , he won the Pot Limit Hold'em Championship at the World Series of Poker and with it his first bracelet and a prize of over 300,000 US dollars. At the end of June 2016 , he secured his second bracelet and won a tournament in Seven Card Stud . At the 2018 WSOP , Deeb won the $ 25,000 Pot-Limit Omaha High Roller and received a prize of more than $ 1.4 million in addition to his third bracelet. He then won the Big Blind Antes No-Limit Hold'em 6-Handed Championship and secured another bracelet and prize money of more than 800,000 US dollars. With that he also took the lead in the ranking of the WSOP Player of the Year 2018 . In mid-August 2018, Deeb finished second in the high roller at the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood and received around $ 535,000 in prize money. With four further cash placements at the World Series of Poker Europe at King's Resort in Rozvadov, he consolidated his top position in October 2018 and became a WSOP player with a total of two bracelets, four final tables, 20 cashes and prize money of more than 2.5 million US dollars of the year . In mid-August 2019, Deeb won the high roller of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open and secured a prize of just under 780,000 US dollars.

In total, Deeb has earned more than $ 7.5 million in poker in live tournaments.
