Cliff D. Josephy (born January 1966 on Long Island , New York ) is a professional American poker player . He led the online poker world rankings for 74 weeks in a row and is a two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .
Poker career
Career
Josephy was known online under his pseudonym JohnnyBax . From mid-April 2005 to mid-September 2006, for 74 consecutive weeks , he led the PocketFives ranking, which lists the most successful online poker tournament players in the world. He has established himself as one of the most famous online players through numerous top results and earned more than four million US dollars with tournament poker . Together with Eric Haber (aka Sheets ) he ran the paid online poker school pokerXfactor . In February 2017, Josephy received the PocketFives Legacy Award at the American Poker Awards in Beverly Hills .
Josephy won a bracelet in the Seven Card Stud variant at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in July 2005 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, as well as the main prize of just under 200,000 US dollars . He won his second bracelet at the 2013 WSOP and received around $ 300,000 in prize money. At the World Series of Poker 2016 , Josephy reached the final table in the main event as the chip leader , which was played from October 30, 2016. There he finished third behind Qui Nguyen and Gordon Vayo and received prize money of almost 3.5 million dollars.
In total, Josephy has made more than $ 7.5 million playing poker in live tournaments.
