Chad Batista (* 1981 - August 20, 2015 in Las Vegas , Nevada ) was a professional American poker player .

Personal

Batista was from Coral Springs , Florida and later lived in Las Vegas . After " Black Friday " on April 15, 2011, through which Batista lost almost all of his money on the poker platforms concerned, he first returned to Florida and then moved to Mexico . After ten months, Batista moved to Oceanside , California , where he stayed for only five months. The constant relocations and the resulting distance from his family living in Florida reinforced his depression , which he had had for a long time. In August 2015 Batista was admitted to an intensive care unit in Las Vegas after overconsumption of alcohol and died there on August 20, 2015 with his family of liver and kidney failure .

Batista played online under the nicknames lilholdem954 ( PokerStars ) , jse81 ( Full Tilt Poker ) and m8kingmoves ( partypoker ) . He was considered an online tournament legend and was number one for 45 weeks in a row from August 22, 2012 to July 1, 2013 in the PocketFives ranking, which lists the most successful online poker tournament players worldwide. There are only four players who led the ranking longer and with Cliff Josephy only one player who was consistently at the top for longer.

From 2006 to 2014 Batista also participated in prestigious live tournaments .

In early November 2006, Batista won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) circuit tournament in Elizabeth with a prize of more than 250,000 US dollars . In early July 2007 he was the first time at the WSOP main tournament series in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas successfully and reached at a tournament of the variant No-Limit Hold'em final table. In mid-July 2008, when Batista Bellagio Cup in the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas third for around 120,000 dollars.
