Sorel Jay "Imper1um" Mizzi (born April 16, 1986 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a professional Canadian poker player . He was one of the most successful online tournament players in 2006 and 2007 and also topped the online poker world rankings during this time .

Poker career

Mizzi played online from July 2006 to May 2015 under the nicknames zangbezan24 ( PokerStars ) and Imper1um ( Full Tilt Poker and partypoker ) . He won in tournaments over 3.5 million US dollars . His biggest win came in mid-May 2015 when he won a Spring Championship of Online Poker event on PokerStars for more than $ 350,000. In mid-April 2007 was Mizzi first time at the top of the Pocket Fives rankings, which lists the most successful online poker tournament players in the world. In total, he held this position for 15 weeks.

Mizzi has been seen at prestigious live tournaments since 2006 .

Mizzi won a tournament at the Spring Poker Festival in Vienna in mid-March 2007 and thus his first live tournament. At the main event of the Irish Poker Open in Dublin he finished third just three weeks later and received 210,000 euros . When the main event of the World Poker Tour , he was in April 2007 Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas 15th and gained more than 150,000 US dollars . At his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, he made three prizes in 2007 . Overall, Mizzi has earned over $ 12.5 million in poker in live tournaments . From April to December 2016 he played as part of the Berlin Bears in the Global Poker League and reached the final with his team.
