Byron Kaverman (born 1987 in Fort Jennings , Putnam County , Ohio ) is a professional American poker player .

Kaverman has earned nearly $ 15.5 million playing poker in live tournaments . From September 30, 2015 to January 12, 2016, it was at the top of the Global Poker Index , which is synonymous with the world's poker rankings, for 15 consecutive weeks .

Kaverman grew up in Ohio and studied psychology at Tiffin University . He lives in San Diego .

Poker career

Career

Kaverman has been playing poker since 2004. Since 2008 he can be seen regularly at renowned live tournaments .

In June 2008 Kaverman was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and finished 37th in an event in the No Limit Hold'em variant for around 7,000 US dollars . He secured his first major win in January 2011 as part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventures (PCA) in the Bahamas when he won a tournament with prize money of more than 300,000 US dollars. At the 2013 WSOP , he reached the sixth day of the tournament in the main event and finished 34th for just under $ 230,000 in prize money. Kaverman won his highest prize money to date in mid-April 2014 when he finished second at the Borgata Spring Poker Open as part of the World Poker Tour in Atlantic City and took home almost $ 730,000. Just a week later, he won more than 330,000 euros at the high roller event of the European Poker Tour in Monte-Carlo . At the 2015 World Series of Poker , Kaverman made more than $ 1 million from four cash placements, including winning a bracelet at Event # 37 in Six-Handed No Limit Hold'em . In late February 2016, he was named Player of the Year 2015 at the American Poker Awards in Beverly Hills hosted by the Global Poker Index . From April to November 2016 , Kaverman played as part of the Sao Paulo Mets in the Global Poker League and made it to the playoffs with his team. At the first PokerStars Championship , Kaverman reached the final table in three high roller events in the Bahamas in January 2017 and also cashed in the main event . For this he received prize money of over one million US dollars. At the 2017 Super High Roller Bowl , Kaverman reached the final table in late May 2017 and finished the tournament in fifth place for $ 1.4 million in prize money. In January 2018, Kaverman finished second in the PCA high roller in the Bahamas for around $ 530,000. At the 2018 WSOP , he finished fifth in the most expensive event on the tournament schedule, the Big One for One Drop with a $ 1 million buy-in, and received his highest cash prize to date of $ 2 million.
