Stephen Patrick "Steve" O'Dwyer (born April 6, 1982 in Colorado Springs , Colorado ) is a professional American - Irish poker player .

O'Dwyer is considered to be one of the best tournament players in the world. He has earned almost 30.5 million US dollars in live tournaments , making him tenth among the most successful poker players in terms of tournament prize money . With over 12 million US dollars in prize money as well as a title in the main event and two titles each in the high roller and super high roller , he is the most successful player on the European Poker Tour . O'Dwyer was at the top of the Global Poker Index , equivalent to the world's poker rankings, for 22 consecutive weeks from January 13 to June 14, 2016 . Poker career
