Sebastian Malec (born August 5, 1995 ) is a Polish poker and chess player .

Personal

Malec played chess in his youth and achieved his highest Elo rating of 2214 in January 2011. In 2014 he began studying mathematics and statistics at the University of Warwick near Coventry in the United Kingdom . In autumn 2016 he moved to Maastricht and began studying art and culture there .

Poker career

Malec came to poker through his former chess teacher after he traveled to Las Vegas for the 2010 World Series of Poker . Malec has been taking part in renowned live tournaments since 2014 .

At the end of August 2015 he was successful for the first time at the Main Event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) and finished 76th in Barcelona for 15,800 euros . A year later, Malec won the EPT Main Event in Barcelona, for which he had previously qualified online for just 27 euros . For this he prevailed against 1784 other players and received prize money of over 1.1 million euros.

Overall, Malec has with poker live tournament almost 1.5 million US dollars earned.
