Gavin Griffin (born August 28, 1981 in Darien , Illinois ) is a professional American poker player . He won a bracelet at the World Series of Poker , the Main Event of the World Poker Tour and the Main Event of the European Poker Tour , making him one of nine poker players who have completed the so-called Triple Crown .

Career

Griffin started playing online poker and then came to live poker. It was in 2004 at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas in his first professional tournament for until then youngest winner of bracelets of the World Series of Poker (WSOP). He made the final table , Phil Hellmuth and Ram Vaswani behind and won 270,000 US dollars in the variant Pot Limit Texas Hold'em . Up until third place in one of the WSOP circuit tournaments in San Diego in February 2007, he had only achieved average results for three years. In March 2007, Griffin won the Main Event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Monte-Carlo . There he left 705 players behind and won more than 1.8 million euros . Griffin played the entire tournament with pink hair to draw attention to a fundraiser. At a charity event during the tournament in Monaco, he graduated with PokerStars an agreement that his donation will further support if he continues with pink dyed hair playing poker tournaments. In late January 2008, Griffin won the World Poker Tour (WPT) Main Event in Atlantic City . The then 26-year-old Griffin received the main prize, which consisted of around 1.4 million US dollars, a seat for the WPT final at the Bellagio Hotel and a Harley-Davidson . With his victory, he became the first player to win tournament titles in all three major tournament series WSOP, WPT and EPT. This feat is known as the Triple Crown and has now been achieved by nine poker players. At the 2012 WSOP at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino , Griffin finished second in Omaha Hi-Lo for more than $ 160,000.

Its revenue from official live poker tournaments is over $ 5 million. From April 2008 to May 2010, Griffin played for Team PokerStars Pro .
