Christine Ratkowitsch

Christine Ratkowitsch (born January 10, 1953 in Vienna ) is an Austrian philologist .

Ratkowitsch received his doctorate in 1977 with a thesis on rhythm problems in Sallust and Livius . From 1978 to 1981 she was a contract assistant and AHS teacher.

From 1982 to 1990 she was employed as a university assistant at the Institute for Classical Philology at the University of Vienna . From 1987 to 1988 she did a research stay at the Middle Latin Seminar at the University of Bonn (with Dieter Schaller ) with a DAAD scholarship. 1990 followed with the habilitation thesis Descriptio picturae. The literary function of the description of works of art in the large Latin poetry of the 12th century (Vienna 1991) the habilitation for Classical Philology (Latin) and Middle Latin.

In 1992 Ratkowitsch received the Figdor Prize for Linguistics and Literature from the Austrian Academy of Sciences .

In 1991/1992 she was in the Middle Latin professorship at the University of Kiel , and in 1992/1993 at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In 1996 she gave a lecture at the University of Szeged .

From 2001 to 2005 she was in charge of an interdisciplinary FWF project on the Middle Latin, Old French and Italian epic about Charlemagne.

Since 2006 she has been a visiting professor for all Latin studies at the University of Graz . Since 2011 she has also been Professor of Classical Philology (Latin) and Middle Latin at the University of Vienna; On October 1, 2016, she was appointed head of the Institute for Classical Philology, Middle and New Latin .
