Ján Bendík (born February 12, 1965 in Poprad ) is a professional Slovak poker player .

Personal

Bendík worked as an entrepreneur before starting his poker career . He lives in Košice with his wife and two daughters .

Poker career

Bendík already enjoyed playing card games as a child and later began with the poker variant Five Card Draw . He now prefers to play No Limit Hold'em . Since 2005, Bendík has participated in renowned live tournaments .

At the beginning of November 2006 he took second place in a Master Classics of Poker tournament in Amsterdam and received prize money of 97,000 euros . In December 2010, Bendík came to the final table at the main event of the European Poker Tour and finished the tournament in Prague in sixth place, endowed with 100,000 euros. In mid-October 2011 he was again at the final table of the EPT main event and landed in Sanremo in fifth place, which was paid for 170,000 euros. In June 2012 , Bendík was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came in the money in a tournament in No Limit Hold'em . At the beginning of May 2016, he won the EPT Main Event in Monte-Carlo and secured a prize money of almost one million euros.

Overall, Bendík has earned more than 3.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments , making him the most successful Slovak poker player .
