Niall Farrell (born October 6, 1987 in Dumfries ) is a professional British poker player from Scotland . He won a bracelet at the World Series of Poker , the Main Event of the World Poker Tour and the Main Event of the European Poker Tour , making him one of nine poker players who have completed the so-called Triple Crown .

Farrell earned a degree in law . He lives in Glasgow .

Poker career

Farrell has been playing online since June 2008 under the nicknames firaldo87 ( PokerStars , Full Tilt Poker and partypoker ) , youngSAVAGE (partypoker) , firaldo87fr (PokerStars.FR) , firaldo87bbp (TitanPoker) and Wug_Brain ( 888poker ) . Its online poker tournament earnings amount to more than 3 million US dollars . Since 2010 Farrell has also participated in prestigious live tournaments.

In June 2011 Farrell was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and cashed in two tournaments in the No Limit Hold'em variant . At the 2012 WSOP he made the money five times, including a. he finished 150th in the main event . In June 2013 , Farrell narrowly missed winning a WSOP bracelet and finished second in a No Limit Hold'em tournament for over $ 350,000 in prize money. At the end of October 2015, he won the main event of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Malta with a prize of just under 550,000 euros . At the 2016 WSOP , Farrell cashed a total of six times. He took second place in a shootout event for around 160,000 US dollars and was eighth in the High Roller for One Drop for almost 500,000 US dollars in prize money. In mid-November 2016, Farrell won the Main Event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) in Punta Cana with a prize of $ 335,000. At the World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) at King's Resort in Rozvadov , he won the two-day high roller event in early November 2017 . For this he received a prize of almost 750,000 euros and was the first Scot to receive a bracelet. With his win, Farrell became the eighth player to win tournament titles in all three major tournament series WSOP, WPT and EPT. This feat is known as the Triple Crown and has now been achieved by nine poker players. A few days later he also reached the final table at the main event of the WSOPE and secured a further 240,000 euros in prize money for his fifth place. In mid-November 2018, Farrell finished eighth at Millions World at the partypoker Caribbean Poker Party in Nassau , Bahamas, and received $ 300,000.

Overall, Farrell has earned more than US $ 6 million playing poker in live tournaments, making him the most successful Scottish poker player .
