Thomas Ryō Mühlöcker (born March 29, 1987 in Vienna ) is a professional Austrian poker player .

Personal

Mühlöcker grew up as the son of a Japanese mother and an Austrian father in Vienna . He trained the Chinese martial art Wushu for several years . He lived with the poker players Martin Finger and Kilian Kramer in a shared apartment in Vienna and studied there at the University of Economics and Business . In November 2015, Mühlöcker was, alongside Kramer, one of the two main characters in the documentary In der Schwebe , which was broadcast as part of the small television game on ZDF . For this purpose, the Cologne filmmaker Miguel Müller-Frank had accompanied the two poker players Mühlöcker and Kramer for a year and a half at some events on the European Poker Tour . Mühlöcker is in a relationship with Ana Márquez , a Spanish poker player.

Poker career

Career

Mühlöcker started playing poker with his brother . He plays online under the nicknames WushuTM ( PokerStars and 888poker ) , Tenkamusou ( Full Tilt Poker ) and onehundredeyes ( partypoker ) . On PokerStars , Mühlöcker qualified in a tournament with a $ 33 buy-in for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) on Paradise Island in the Bahamas , which was his first major live tournament. Overall, his income from online poker tournaments is over $ 8.5 million, with the majority of nearly $ 6 million being won on PokerStars .

Since March 2010, Mühlöcker has been represented more frequently at renowned live tournaments. At the Main Event of the World Series of Poker in early July 2010 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas , he landed in 509th place and won prize money of almost 30,000 US dollars. At the Vienna Poker Festival of the World Poker Tour in October 2012, Mühlöcker took second place for more than 40,000 euros . In September 2013, by winning the High Roller of the European Poker Tour (EPT) in Barcelona , he secured a prize of almost 400,000 euros. At the end of April 2015, Mühlöcker finished sixth in the Super High Roller at the EPT in Monte-Carlo and again received more than 400,000 euros in prize money. At the high roller event of the PokerStars Championship in Monte-Carlo in early May 2017, he finished third and received over 470,000 euros. At the beginning of November 2017, Mühlöcker finished fourth in the € 111,111 High Roller for One Drop of the World Series of Poker Europe at King's Resort in Rozvadov and received his highest prize money to date of more than € 1 million. In mid-July 2018, he won the Bellagio Cup at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and received prize money of just under 350,000 US dollars due to a deal with Pavel Plesuv . In January 2019, Mühlöcker finished third in the PCA High Roller in the Bahamas and secured prize money of more than 400,000 US dollars. He also finished third about two weeks later in the A $ 50,000 Challenge of the Aussie Millions Poker Championship in Melbourne for more than 400,000 Australian dollars .

In total, Mühlöcker has earned more than 7.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments , making him the second most successful Austrian poker player after Matthias Eibinger .
