Marvin Guido Rettenmaier (born September 10, 1986 in Leonberg ) is a professional German poker player .

Rettenmaier has earned almost 7.5 million US dollars in live tournaments and is one of the most successful German poker players . He is nicknamed Mad Marvin and two-time champions of the World Poker Tour . From December 31, 2012 to January 6, 2013, Rettenmaier was number one in the poker world rankings for a week for the first time . Overall, he led the ranking for 18 weeks , most recently in October 2013.

Poker career

Career

Rettenmaier started playing poker in 2007. He plays on the online poker platform PokerStars under the nickname Ron Jovi 7 . Since 2009 he has also been taking part in renowned live tournaments.

Rettenmaier was in June 2010 for the first time at the World Series of Poker in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas successful and came in three tournaments of the variant No-Limit Hold'em in the money. In November 2010 he won the main event of the Spanish Poker Tour in Lloret de Mar with a prize money of 111,000 euros . In mid-February 2012, he secured victory at the main event of the France Poker Series in Paris for just under 250,000 euros. In May 2012, Rettenmaier won the Main Event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and received his highest prize money to date of around 1.2 million US dollars . At the beginning of August 2012 he won another WPT main event and secured his second WPT title and a prize of almost 300,000 US dollars in Kyrenia, Cyprus . This makes him the only German-speaking multiple WPT title winner and the first player ever to win two WPT main events in a row. Thanks to these achievements, Rettenmaier was named Player of the Year 2012 by the Global Poker Index at the end of the year . In mid-December 2013 he won the high roller of the European Poker Tour in Prague for more than 350,000 euros. In August 2013, Rettenmaier won the high roller of the bwin WPT Merit Cyprus Classic in Kyrenia for around 180,000 US dollars. In mid-August 2016, he won the high roller of the Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open in Hollywood with a prize of almost 800,000 US dollars. At the end of August 2017, Rettenmaier was again at the final table of the WPT Main Event and finished fifth in Los Angeles for prize money of around 120,000 US dollars. In January 2019 he reached the fourth day of the tournament at the PokerStars Players Championship in the Bahamas , where he was eliminated in 27th place, worth $ 126,000.
