Marcel "The Flying Dutchman" Lüske (born March 20, 1953 in Amsterdam ) is a professional Dutch poker player . His trademarks are upturned sunglasses and fashionable suits, and he also likes to sing, even at the poker table. Lüske is married and has two children.

Success as a poker player

Lüske learned the game of poker in smaller cafes in Amsterdam, where he quickly achieved minor successes. In 2003 he quit his business career to devote himself to the game of poker. In 2003 he finished 14th in the Main Event of the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas , and in 2004 he finished tenth. Although he has not won a bracelet at the WSOP, he still showed impressive performances, which were often rewarded with good placements and big cash prizes. He is considered one of the best players in the world and caused a sensation thanks to his ability to read the hand strength of his opponents very well. He got out of a big pot during the 2004 WSOP when he correctly suspected that his opponent had two kings. He commented on his decision with the words "Kings are good" ("Kings are good"). Lüske won the Player of the Year Award at the European Poker Awards in 2001 and 2004 .

His winnings from live poker tournaments are more than five million dollars, making him the second most successful Dutch poker player after Jorryt van Hoof . Lüske is the brand ambassador of the online poker platform partypoker and plays there under the nickname Marcel-Luske .
