Samuel "Sam" Trickett (born July 2, 1986 in East Retford , Nottinghamshire ) is a professional British poker player from England .

Personal

Trickett planned a football career, playing for Hartlepool United until he had to retire in 2005 due to a knee injury. He is a trained gas fitter . Trickett has been married to actress and model Mieke Dockley since 2016 and lives in Nottingham .

Poker career

Career

Trickett started playing poker in 2005 after his career as a soccer player . At first he only played low buy-in sit-and-gos online . For this he used the nicknames tr1cky7 ( PokerStars ) and S3 TRX ( Full Tilt Poker ) . Trickett is now sponsored by partypoker and plays on the platform as SamTrickett . Since 2007 he has also participated in renowned live tournaments .

The end of June 2008 was Trickett first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas successful and finished at an event of the variant No-Limit Hold'em fourth place for almost 250,000 US dollars prize money. In August 2008 he won the main event of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour in Luton with a prize of just under 110,000 British pounds , at that time the equivalent of around 215,000 US dollars. In June 2010 , Trickett reached its first WSOP final table, finishing second behind Jason DeWitt for more than $ 500,000 in an event . At the end of the year, Trickett was named Global Poker Index Player of the Year 2011 . In July 2012 , he took part in the WSOP's Big One for One Drop , which required a buy-in of $ 1 million. Trickett reached the final table and, after losing heads-up to Antonio Esfandiari to finish second, received more than $ 10 million in prize money. In early September 2012, Trickett finished seventh in a super high roller in Macau for the equivalent of around one million US dollars. In early February 2013, he won the A $ 250,000 Challenge of the Aussie Millions for a prize of 2 million Australian dollars. In mid-August 2014, Trickett took fourth place at the EPT Super High Roller in Barcelona and received prize money of almost 300,000 euros. In November 2017, he finished third in the super high roller at the partypoker Caribbean Poker Party in Punta Cana for $ 165,000. In October 2019, Trickett took second place in the Platinum High Roller of the World Series of Poker Europe at King's Resort in Rozvadov and secured prize money of almost 370,000 euros. At the partypoker Live Millions Super High Roller Series in Sochi , he won the second event in March 2020 with a prize money of 435,000 US dollars.

Overall, Trickett has earned more than US $ 21.5 million in poker in live tournaments , making it the second most successful British poker player after Stephen Chidwick . From April to November 2016 Trickett played as part of the London Royals in the Global Poker League and made it to the playoffs with his team.
