The Zschornewitzer Rowing Club (ZRC) from 1954 is a rowing club from Graefenhainichen in Saxony-Anhalt . The association, which existed as an independent department within the SV Turbine Zschornewitz eV , was founded on May 20, 1954.

history

On May 20, 1954, the water sports section of the BSG Turbine Zschornewitz was founded under the direction of Karl Brämer at a former open- cast mine in Möhlau . In 1956, Gerhard Köpge and Werner Kömmling, two rowers from Zschornewitz, were delegated to SC Chemie Halle-Leuna . In 1958 the section was renamed Rowing. On October 6, 1974, the 1st Zschornewitz rowing regatta was held in Möhlau. From 1975 the current rowing center was built at the open pit Golpa II, the Zschornewitzer See or also called "Gurke". In the next few years a new regatta course , a boathouse , two boathouses and motorboat garages were built. On October 18, 1978 the founder of the section, Karl Brämer, died. In the same year, it was appointed as a state performance base. In 1979 Ingo Brämer became the new chairman of the association. In 1981 a rowing basin with a later weight room was inaugurated. In 1987 the regatta course was extended from 900 m to 1000 m.

Since 1992 Zschornewitz has been one of the organizers of the state championships of Saxony-Anhalt, since 1994 the state final “Youth trained for the Olympics” has been taking place in Zschornewitz. In 1994/95 a new club house was built, and in 1997 the rowing section was renamed the Zschornewitzer rowing club from 1954 . In 2000 Patrick Scholz and Marco Spielau became Junior World Champions in eight and four . In 2010 Andreas Renner won gold in the single at the World Master Regatta in Zagreb . In February 2011, Thomas Renner took over from Ingo Brämer as chairman of the Zschornewitz rowing club . In September of the same year, Falk Brämer hands over the coaching position to Andrea Senst after 33 years.

Focus

With its 100 members, the association focuses on different areas. As a state performance base, the main focus is primarily on performance-oriented training for children and young people. The ZRC can record numerous victories in the annual regattas at federal and state level. Two competitions, the spring regatta and the state championship for Saxony-Anhalt, are also held on local waters every year. The club is also represented in other areas such as master and touring rowing as well as in popular sports.
