Carlos Turrubiates (born January 24, 1968 in Reynosa , Tamaulipas ) is a retired Mexican football player on the position of defender and today's coach.
Life
society
Turrubiates began his professional career in 1990 at Club León , for whom he made his debut in the Mexican top division on September 29, 1990 in a league game at CF Monterrey , which was lost 2-1. His first goal in the first division he scored on April 26, 1992 in the 85th minute for a 2-1 home win against UAT Correcaminos . Just six weeks later, he met again and this time for the important 1-0 lead of the Esmeraldas in the championship final of the 1991/92 season against Puebla FC , which was won 2-0 and gave León the first championship title since 1956 when the legendary Antonio Carbajal guarded the goal for the team from León .
In 1993, Turrubiates moved to Mexico's most popular club, Chivas Guadalajara , where he stayed until 1996. He then returned to Club León, moved to Club Atlante for the 1998/99 season and ended his active career in 1999/00 with his long-term club Club León.
National team
Turrubiates made his debut for the Mexican national team in a friendly against Costa Rica on June 29, 1993, which was won 2-0. His seventh and last international match took place on February 5, 1997 as part of a comparison against Ecuador (3: 1).
Trainer
Turrubiates held his first coaching position in the 2003 Apertura at the Trotamundos Tijuana club, which only existed in this half-season .
In the 2009/10 season he was the head coach of the UANL Tigres second team and in the 2010 Apertura he was in charge of the first team of the Tiburones Rojos Veracruz before taking over the second team in early 2011.
In 2013 he was in charge of a youth team at Puebla FC and was signed up to coach the U-20 youth team at Club America in the summer of 2014 , before joining the new coach of the first team at Club America, Ignacio Ambríz, at the beginning of the 2015/16 season , was appointed.
