Marcos Ignacio Ambríz Espinoza (born February 7, 1965 in Mexico City ), also known by the nickname Nacho (short for Ignacio), is a Mexican football coach and former football player in the position of defender .

Although Nacho Ambríz worked for a total of six clubs in the course of his active career, he was only under contract with his hometown club Necaxa for more than two years. For the Necaxistas he played in three stages: at the beginning of his professional career between 1983 and 1986, in his prime between 1989 and 1996 and at the end of his active career between 1999 and 2001. In the seasons 1994/95 and 1995/96 he won with Necaxa the Mexican football championship .

National team

Between 1992 and 1995 Ambríz came to 64 missions for the Mexican national team . He made his debut on July 26, 1992 against El Salvador (2-1), his last international match was on July 17, 1995 against the USA (0-0).

He scored all five international goals in 1993 in the games against Honduras (3: 0), El Salvador (3: 1), Jamaica (6: 1), USA (4: 0) and China (3: 0).

The highlight of his international playing career was his participation in the soccer World Cup in 1994 , in which he played all four Mexican games in full.

Trainer

Soon after the end of his active career, he was hired as assistant coach to Javier Aguirre , whom he accompanied to Spain , where he first earned his money at CA Osasuna and then at Atlético Madrid .

In the summer of 2009 he returned to Mexico and received his first long-term contract as head coach at Club San Luis , after he had already worked for seven games as interim coach at Puebla FC in the Clausura in 2003 . At the end of 2011, his engagement in San Luis ended and in early 2012 he was hired to succeed Fernando Quirarte as head coach at Chivas Guadalajara .
