Eric Afriat (* 1969 or 1970 in Montreal , Québec ) is a Canadian entrepreneur and poker player . He is three-time champions of the World Poker Tour .

Personal

Afriat worked for around 25 years in the import / export branch of the clothing industry and as a fashion designer . He now works as a real estate developer . Afriat lives in Montreal .

Poker career

Afriat has participated in renowned live tournaments since 2008 .

After the first tournament successes on Sint Maarten and in Las Vegas , Afriat reached the final table at the main event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) in the Hotel Bellagio in July 2010 and finished the tournament in sixth place, worth almost 120,000 US dollars . In June 2011 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and came in the money in two tournaments of the No Limit Hold'em variant . In mid-July 2012, Afriat won the Bellagio Cup with a bonus of around 110,000 US dollars. In April 2014, he also prevailed at the WPT Main Event in Hollywood , Florida , and secured the grand prize of over $ 1 million, which is the highest prize money in his poker career to date. After reaching two more final tables at the WPT Main Event in Kahnawake in February and November 2017, Afriat won his second WPT title at the Borgata Winter Poker Open in Atlantic City in early February 2018 . For this, Afriat prevailed against 1243 other players and received the main prize of around 650,000 US dollars. At the 2018 WSOP , he finished fifth in the Closer event, which was paid for with more than $ 150,000. In mid-April 2019, Afriat finished runner-up at the WPT Main Event in Hollywood and received around 465,000 Canadian dollars . At the WPT Fallsview in Niagara Falls , he became the sixth player to win his third WPT title in February 2020 and secured a prize of over 500,000 Canadian dollars.

In total, Afriat has earned more than $ 3.5 million in poker in live tournaments.
