Matthew "Matt" Giannetti (born November 25, 1984 in Texas ) is a professional American poker player . He is two-time champions of the World Poker Tour .
Personal
Giannetti played hockey and golf in his youth . He later studied at the University of Texas . He lives in Las Vegas .
Poker career
Giannetti has participated in prestigious live tournaments since 2006 .
Giannetti was successful for the first time in July 2006 at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and finished 521st in the main event . At the 2008 WSOP he was killed in a shootout tournament of the variant No-Limit Hold'em at the final table. At the WSOP 2011 Main Event , he reached the final table with the third-largest chip stack, which was played in November 2011. Before the start of the final table, Giannetti won the Main Event of the World Poker Tour (WPT) in Malta with a prize of 200,000 euros . At the WSOP final table, he finished a month later in fourth place and received its biggest ever prize money of over three million US dollars . In February 2013, Giannetti won the main event of the Lucky Hearts Poker Open in Hollywood , Florida , securing his second WPT title and almost $ 300,000 in prize money.
In total, Giannetti has earned more than $ 4.5 million in poker in live tournaments. Since 2008 he has also been playing online under the nickname hazards21 .
Trivia
Giannetti spent twelve hours in a row in the hotel pool during the World Poker Tour on the Turks and Caicos Islands in September 2007 . With that he won a bet that grossed him $ 15,000.
