Hoyt Bricken "Cowboy" Corkins (born December 20, 1962 in Glenwood , Alabama ) is a professional American poker player who is known for his soft voice and aggressive game. He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker , as well as two-time champions of the World Poker Tour .
Poker career
Career
After his father taught him the game, Corkins began playing himself at the age of 19. His nickname "Cowboy" comes from the fact that he usually wears a cowboy hat and matching boots at the poker table. Phil Hellmuth nicknamed him “Mr. Move-All-In "( German " Herr Setze-Alles " ). He often wears earplugs to prevent his opponents from talking to him.
Corkins won in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in 1992 , a bracelet in the variant PLO , giving him 96,000 dollars earned. After this win he ended his career prematurely due to a divorce, but started his comeback successfully in 2003. Shortly after starting over, he won a World Poker Tour tournament that grossed over a million dollars. At the 2005 WSOP Tournament of Champions , Corkins finished second behind Mike Matusow for $ 325,000. At the 2007 WSOP , he won his second bracelet and a prize of around $ 515,000.
Overall, Corkins has earned over six million US dollars with poker in live tournaments .
