Hans J. "Tuna" Lund (born September 23, 1950 in San José , California , † November 6, 2009 in Mound House , Nevada ) was a professional American poker player and a two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Poker career

Career

Lund started playing poker tournaments in 1977 . A year later he won at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) 1978 in Las Vegas , a Bracelet in the variant No-Limit Hold'em . A decade later, he finished second in the same event. In the WSOP 1990 he was the main event in the heads-up against Mansour Matloubi . He went all in as chip leader with A9 , Matloubi called with two tens. On the turn came the ace, which is so important for Lund. The chances of his opponent were limited at this point to the two tens remaining in the deck, which corresponded to a winning probability of about 5%. One of the two tens came on the river . Matloubi ultimately won the heads-up and took the title. At the 1996 WSOP , Lund won his second bracelet in the ace to five draw . A year later, in 1997, he announced his retirement from poker, but then took part in various WSOP tournaments several times.

Total Lund won almost three million in tournament dollars .

Lund was divorced but had custody of his two children. Originally, he wanted to continue his career when his children are older. He died of cancer in November 2009 at the age of 59.
