Farzad "Freddy" Bonyadi (* 1961 in Tehran ) is a professional American - Iranian poker player . He lives in Aliso Viejo , California and has won three bracelets in the World Series of Poker to date .
Poker career
Career
Bonyadi immigrated to America in 1983 and worked in various casinos .
He first gained attention in poker circles when he won a Limit Hold'em tournament at the 1998 World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas . He prevailed against prominent players like Mimi Tran and John Cernuto and won around 430,000 US dollars . At the 2004 and 2005 WSOPs , Bonyadi won two additional WSOP bracelets. In the second year of the World Poker Tour , he finished fifth in the Legends of Poker . Well-known players such as Mel Judah , TJ Cloutier and Phil Laak sat at the final table .
Bonyadi was under contract with the online poker room Full Tilt Poker and won a tournament there with a prize money of 54,240 US dollars.
In total, Bonyadi has earned over $ 4 million in poker in live tournaments. His mother Farhintaj Bonyadi won the Super Seniors Championship at the 2018 WSOP and is thus also a bracelet winner.
