Gabriela Grillo

Gabriela Dagmar Grillo (born August 19, 1952 in Duisburg ) is a former German journalist, entrepreneur and former dressage rider and Olympic participant.

Career

Grillo is the daughter of the businessman Herbert Grillo and his wife Marita, née Withofer. Gabriela Grillo trained as a dressage rider from 1960 to 1966 with Otto Fuhrmann, from 1967 to 1973 with Walter Günther and from 1974 with the retired major general. D. Albert Stecken . After graduating from the Frau-Rath-Goethe-Gymnasium in Duisburg in 1971, Grillo enrolled in musicology , German studies and theater studies at the University of Cologne in the same year . From 1979 to 1983 Grillo was youth warden at the riding and driving club at Uhlenhorst in Mülheim. From 1980 she was a permanent employee of the trade magazine riding and driving . In 1981 she became the board member of the dressage group in the German Rider and Driver Association (DRFV). From 1976 to 1982 she was a member of the German national dressage team. During this time, her greatest sporting success fell, winning the team gold medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal in dressage riding; in the individual competition she took 4th place. She achieved both successes on her Trakehner Ultimo . Since 1985 she has been a member of the German Equestrian Olympics Committee (DOKR). Grillo has written specialist articles and several books on riding, including 60 words equestrian German in 1979 .

For winning the gold medal in 1976, she received the silver bay leaf .

Gabriela Grillo, a great-great-granddaughter of Wilhelm Grillo and great-great-great-grandniece of Friedrich Grillo , has been managing partner of Wilhelm Grillo Handelsgesellschaft mbH since 1993 , she trades in zinc , lead , copper and rare metals such as bismuth , antimony and cobalt .

In March 1995 she became a member of the supervisory board of Grillo-Werke AG in Duisburg and then in May 1995 she was delegated to the board of directors as a deputy member of the board of directors of Grillo-Werke AG. In May 1996 she was appointed a full board member of Grillo-Werke AG. Since August 2001 she has been the spokesperson for the board; since October 2004 she has been chairwoman of the supervisory board of Grillo-Werke AG. Her successor on the board was her cousin Ulrich Grillo . The Grillo Group is divided into the four business areas Metal, Chemicals, Zinc Oxide and Rheinzink with subsidiaries and branches all over Europe and bridgeheads in the USA, China and South Africa. The Grillo Group is considered to be the largest zinc processor in the world and has been completely family-owned again since 1994; The 150 family shareholders may only pass on their registered shares with restricted transferability with the approval of the Management Board and the Supervisory Board. Grillo sits on the executive floor of the London Metal Exchange (LME).

Gabriela Grillo was a member of the board of trustees of the University of Duisburg-Essen .

In November 2010, Grillo received the Luther Rose for social responsibility and entrepreneurial courage from the International Martin Luther Foundation in Gladbeck .
