Monica Theodorescu
Monica Theodorescu (born March 2, 1963 in Halle (Westphalia) ) is a former German dressage rider and current trainer . Since 2012 she has been the national trainer for German dressage riders.
Career
sportswoman
Monica Theodorescu got her first competition horse named Colorado at the age of 12. With him she developed to Grand Prix maturity and took part in the European Junior Championships. Her first big success was winning the dressage derby. When she was 19 she started at the CHIO Aachen for the first time . Her next horse was Lexikon , with which she won the junior championships.

They won with German dressage team at the 1988 Olympics (with Ganimedes ), 1992 (with Grunox ) and 1996 respectively, the gold medal . In 1988 she reached 6th place in the individual ranking, and in 1996 4th place. At the World Equestrian Games in 1990 she won gold with the team and bronze in the individual ranking. Before that, she had won the German championship of dressage riders with Ganimedes in the same year .
At the World Cup final in Gothenburg in 1992 she was third, in 1993 and 1994 she won the World Cup final with Ganimedes . At the European Championships in Lipica in 1993 , she and the team won the gold medal and the individual silver medal. At the European Championships 2007 in La Mandria she came with the team on the 2nd place, in the individual she was with Whisper seventh in the Grand Prix Spécial and eleventh in the Grand Prix Freestyle . At the European Championships in Windsor in 2009 she won bronze with the team, in the individual ranking she came in 13th (GP Spécial) and ninth (GP Freestyle).
In 1992 she was awarded the Bambi . She is also the bearer of the silver bay leaf .
trainer
Theodorescu has been the national trainer for German dressage riders since October 1st, 2012. She succeeded Jonny Hilberath , who temporarily took over the post after the death of Holger Schmezer in April 2012.
Monica Theodorescu initially continued to operate her riding facility near Sassenberg - Füchtorf . Theodorescu has been working at the Warendorf Federal Training Center since February 2017 . The horses are trained by employees in order to avoid conflicts of interest with their trainer work.
Success as a dressage rider
- 2000: Victory in the Grand Prix in Steinhagen with Renaissance , 4th place in the Grand Prix at the German Masters Stuttgart with Renaissance , 2nd place in the final of the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal with L´Etoile
- 2001: 4th place in the Grand Prix Spécial and in the Grand Prix Freestyle in Mannheim with Renaissance Fleur , 2nd place in the Grand Prix Freestyle in Arnhem, 2nd place in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Spécial at the CHIO Aachen , 1st place Grand Prix Special in Wiesbaden
- 2002: 1st place at the Grand Prix and 2nd place at the World Cup Freestyle in Maastricht
- 2003: 1st place in the World Cup freestyle in Neumünster and San Patrignano , 1st place in the Grand Prix in San Patrignano
In the following years she could not celebrate any major international successes, with the exception of winning the final of the Nuremberg Burg Cup 2005. At the end of 2006 she returned with Whisper , a Württemberg Fuchs-Wallach (* 1998) owned by Ann-Kathrin Linsenhoff , back to international sport.
- 2007: 1st place in the Grand Prix Special in Bad Salzuflen, 1st place in the Grand Prix Special in Dortmund, 1st place in the Grand Prix Special in Hagen aTW, 1st place in the Grand Prix at the Festhalleenturnier Frankfurt a. M.
- 2008: 2nd place in the Grand Prix and 3rd place in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the CDI 4 * as part of the CHIO Aachen, 1st place in the Grand Prix Spécial and 2nd place in the Grand Prix and in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the CDIO 3 * in Mondorf-les-Bains , 2nd place in the Grand Prix and 3rd place in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the Stuttgart German Masters , 2nd place in the Grand Prix and in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the Festhalleenturnier Frankfurt a. M.
- 2009: 3rd place in the Grand Prix and in the World Cup freestyle in Neumünster, 3rd place in the Grand Prix and in the Grand Prix Spécial at the CDI 4 * Wiesbaden, 2nd place in the Grand Prix and 3rd place in the Grand Prix Spécial at CDI 3 * Verden, 2nd place in the Grand Prix and in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the CDI-W Lyon, 2nd place in the Grand Prix and 3rd place in the Grand Prix Spécial at the Stuttgart German Masters, 2nd place in the Grand Prix and in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the festival hall tournament Frankfurt a. M.
- 2010: 3rd place in the Grand Prix Spécial at the CDI 4 * Wiesbaden, 2nd place in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Spécial at the CDI 4 * as part of the CHIO Aachen
- 2011: 1st place in the Grand Prix and 3rd place in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the CDI 3 * Milan-Rho, 3rd place in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the CDI-W Lyon

Private
Her parents were also successful riders. Her father George (born October 1, 1925 in Bucharest † 2007) took part in the 1956 Olympic Games for Romania . Her mother Inge Theodorescu , born in Fellgiebel, (born October 18, 1925 - April 11, 2010) was a show jumping and dressage rider who was briefly married to Hans Günter Winkler . Their father was the German country stable master and hippologist Hans Fellgiebel .
Monica Theodorescu is a trained translator. She has been married since May 2011.
