Helen Langehanenberg (2012)

Helen Langehanenberg (born May 21, 1982 in Münster ) is a German dressage rider .

Career

Helen Langehanenberg completed her training as a horse manager with Ingrid Klimke in Münster . She then did an internship with Klaus Balkenhol .

At the age of 16 Langehanenberg got the then seven-year-old Princeton L , which she trained together with Ingrid Klimke and with which she achieved placements up to the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Spécial for the first time and earned her golden riding badge .

With Damon Hill , who was trained by Ingrid Klimke, she won the 2005 World Championships for young dressage horses. In 2007 she won three titles at the Bundeschampionat with three horses and made her breakthrough in the winter season with Responsible up to the Grand Prix Spécial. She was then appointed to the 2008 championship squad. She was also a reservist for the 2008 Olympic Games . In the same year she won the Nations Cup in Saumur with Responsible and the German team and was also second in the Grand Prix Spécial. In 2010 Langehanenberg took over the stallion Damon Hill from Ingrid Klimke. In winter 2010/2011 she rode her first full World Cup season and qualified for the World Cup finals in Leipzig .

Helen Langehanenberg has been a member of the German dressage riders A-team since May 2011. At the European Dressage Championships in 2011 , she started with Damon Hill in the team competition, where she took second place in the team ranking together with Christoph Koschel ( Donnperignon ), Isabell Werth ( El Santo ) and Matthias Alexander Rath ( Totilas ) . She achieved 71.079% in the Grand Prix and qualified for the Grand Prix Spécial with 14th place in the individual ranking . A result of 75.283% brought her 8th place and thus qualification for the Grand Prix Freestyle . She also finished this test with 8th place (80.446%).

At the 2012 World Cup final , Langehanenberg achieved a freestyle result of 85.143 percent with Damon Hill NRW - that meant second place and was the best result of her career to date. In June 2012 she won both the Grand Prix Spécial and the Freestyle at the German Championships in Balve and achieved a new personal best of 88.400 percent.

After this success she was nominated for the Olympic Games in London . Here she represented the German team together with Damon Hill NRW . With Kristina Sprehe and Dorothee Schneider , she won the silver medal in the dressage team competition. Langehanenberg was also successful in presenting young horses in 2012: Damon's Delorange , ridden by her, won the Bundeschampionat for five-year-old dressage horses, while Damon's Satelite , ridden by her chestnut gelding , became Bundeschampion for 4-year-old mares and geldings.

She started 2013 with the victory of the World Cup final in Gothenburg , with Damon Hill NRW she achieved a result of 88.286 percent. In Balve she was again German champion in both ratings with Damon Hill NRW . In June 2013 she was second in the world rankings with Damon Hill NRW . At the European Championships in Herning in August, she won the team title together with Isabell Werth , Kristina Sprehe and Fabienne Lütkemeier , and won the silver medal behind Charlotte Dujardin both in the Grand Prix Spécial and in the freestyle .

A year later she also won the World Equestrian Games in Normandy with the German team, which had the same line-up as the EM. In the two individual competitions she was again second behind Dujardin. In February of that year Helen Langehanenberg had set her personal record with Damon Hill NRW at the world cup tournament in Neumünster: For the first time ever, she came over 90 percent (90.375%) in the Grand Prix Freestyle.

On November 10, 2014 it was officially announced that Langehanenberg will no longer ride Damon Hill NRW in the future. The horse owners could not come to an agreement with her and the DOKR about the conditions of the riding until 2016. After tests with younger dressage horses were in the foreground in 2015, Langehanenberg received a Grand Prix-trained dressage horse in February 2016, Damsey FRH . After starting at two national tournaments, she competed for the first time at the Maimarkt tournament Mannheim 2016 with Damsey FRH and won the Grand Prix de Dressage and Grand Prix Spécial.

Until it was sold to Steffen Peters ' sponsors, Langehanenberg trained his later championship horse, Soupenkasper, up to Grand Prix level. At the European Championships 2017 she was part of the German team again. In the Grand Prix, in which Germany won the gold medal, Helen Langehanenberg and Damsey FRH achieved the fourth-best individual result. Things didn't go as well in the Grand Prix Spécial, so she missed qualifying for the Grand Prix Freestyle. At the 2019 World Cup final , Langehanenberg and Damsey FRH managed an outstanding freestyle, with 86.571 percent they came in third.

In June 2020 the couple was ranked 8th in the world rankings for dressage riders.
