Laak announced, however, that he would continue playing until he reached the 90-hour mark. After playing poker for 115 hours straight, he ended the project. In total, Laak has earned over 3.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments.
Nickname and personality
Laak became known as the Unabomber because of his hoodie that Gus Hansen gave him and the sunglasses he wears at the poker table. He is known for pulling his hood so far over his face that no expression can be seen. Other characteristics of his style include going behind the dealer to be the first to see which card comes next, or getting ready to go when he moves all-in , no matter which hand he hits. For these things, Laak is loved by poker fans, but also criticized by poker players for finding it unprofessional.
His girlfriend is the actress and poker player Jennifer Tilly , who is known as The Unabombshell . Since May 7, 2007, Laak has been on the American pay-per-view broadcaster MOJO HD in the eight-part television series I bet you with his best friend Antonio Esfandiari , in which the two made crazy bets against each other. Like Esfandiari, he also made a cameo as a poker player in the 2008 comedy film All in - All or nothing , his wife played a supporting role.
