action

For the sake of his wife Helen, aging ex-poker pro Tommy Vinson renounced gambling years ago. When he bumped into the 21-year-old up-and-coming player Alex Stillman during a TV poker game, however, his passion for the game was rekindled. He takes the student under his wing and pays the entry fees for the tournaments with the savings for the evening together with his wife Helen. In return, Vinson teaches the mathematician Stillman the art of bluffing and infiltrates the call girl Michelle unnoticed, who is supposed to build Stillman's self-confidence. Both projects end in an argument, both with his wife Helen, who then packs her bags, and with Stillman. Before the decisive tournament, he renounced his teacher, with the result that Vinson registered himself for the tournament and both of them stood up to each other in the final round. Stillman emerges as the supposed winner, but keeps his cards hidden and pretends to be a loser, with the result that Vinson goes home with the long-awaited title and a lavish prize money. In the last scene you can see that Stillman had a pair of aces and that actually would have won.
