Frank R. Kassela (born February 26, 1968 in Chicago Heights , Illinois ) is a professional American poker player and entrepreneur . He is nicknamed Lights Out and triple bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Personal

Kassela came to the Dallas-Fort-Worth-Metroplex with his family as a child and later lived in Memphis . There he founded Mid-American Specialties in September 1993 , which sells promotional items and office supplies throughout the USA. The company is now worth a few million dollars . Kassela is married and has four sons and a daughter. The family lives in Texas .

Poker career

Career

Kassela started playing poker in 2000 and has been playing prestigious live tournaments since 2003 .

In April 2005, he finished at an event of the World Poker Tour in the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas in second place and won so for the first time more than 100,000 US dollars in prize money. In June 2005 Kassela was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and was able to place three times in the money. In mid-February 2009, he sat down at a tournament of the variant PLO as part of the LA Poker Classic in Los Angeles by and received a win bonus of about 200,000 dollars. At the 2010 WSOP , Kassela first won a tournament in Seven Card Stud Hi / Lo and 15 days later another in Seven Card Razz . These successes earned him more than $ 660,000 in prize money and two bracelets . Since Kassela reached one more final table and made it into the money six times, he was awarded the WSOP Player of the Year Award . In June 2014 , he reached the final table of the WSOP Poker Player's Championship , earning more than $ 200,000 for finishing sixth. At the World Series of Poker Asia Pacific , Kassela finished fifth in the main event in mid-October 2014 for the equivalent of just under 150,000 US dollars. At the 2017 WSOP , he won a No Limit 2-7 Lowball Draw tournament , securing his third bracelet and around $ 90,000 in prize money. At the beginning of July 2018, Kassela finished second behind Calvin Anderson in the Razz Championship of the 2018 WSOP for almost $ 200,000 in prize money.

Overall, Kassela has earned almost $ 3.5 million with poker in live tournaments.
