Bon "John" Phan (born October 10, 1974 in Da Nang , Vietnam ) is a professional American poker player . He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Poker career

World Series of Poker

Phan cashed 38 times in his career at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas and reached several final tables. In 2005 he finished fourth in the Seven Card Stud variant . At the 2006 WSOP , Phan finished second in No Limit Hold'em for just under $ 290,000 . A year later he finished second again when he lost to Francois Safieddine in No Limit Hold'em , but received around $ 330,000. In 2008 Phan won two tournaments and two bracelets .

World Poker Tour

Phan has ten cashes to date in the World Poker Tour Main Event , including two final tables. This included a final table at the season three championship event at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. Phan reached fourth place and received almost $ 520,000 for it, leaving well-known poker professionals like Rob Hollink , Phil Ivey , Joe Beevers , Chris Ferguson and Juha Helppi behind. Phan reached the second final table at a WPT event in 2008 with the Bay 101 Shooting Stars , where he finished sixth for a check for $ 135,000.

More poker tournaments

Phan has won a few other poker tournaments so far, including two smaller events at the Fifth Annual Jack Binion World Poker Open in 2004. These were $ 500 limit hold'em for which he pocketed more than $ 160,000 and a $ 500 pot limit Hold'em , which grossed him over $ 85,000. Later in 2004, he won a $ 3000 No Limit Hold'em at the Festa al Lago II for $ 189,900.

His live tournament revenue is more than $ 5.5 million.
