Antanas Guoga (born December 17, 1973 in Kaunas ) is a Lithuanian liberal politician and entrepreneur . From 2014 to 2019 he was a Lithuanian member of the European Parliament for the LRLS . In addition, he plays under the nickname Tony G successful poker .

Life

At the age of eleven, Guoga moved with his mother from Lithuania to Melbourne , Australia . He is now an entrepreneur and owns several companies in Lithuania and Australia. Since January 2007 he has been a shareholder in the foreign company "Rate Detective", the Lithuanian companies such as "Lošimų strateginė grupė" (manager of "TonyBet" betting points), sports broadcaster "Sport media", TV game company "TV žaidimai", clothing trading company “Sport Clothes” akcininkas, real estate companies “NTSG” and “TR Holding”. His recreation and resort company TonyResort with an amusement park, hotel, restaurant and conference center is located in the village of Anupriškės in the Trakai district . Guoga is also an advisor, chairman, and investor in sports blockchain company Lympo .

In 2013 he had a fortune of 45 million litas (13 million euros). In 2015, its company shares were valued at EUR 24.55 million, according to data from the Lithuanian tax office Valstybinė mokesči lit inspekcija . This made Guoga the 84th place among the richest Lithuanians. He supports the LRT show and its philanthropic foundation. In May 2016, Guoga declared that he had notarized his assets worth 20 million euros for donation purposes. Guoga wants to sell his assets in Lithuania, support the student investment fund of Vilnius University and help build a Catholic Joseph Church in Pilaitė (from EUR 3–3.5 million) . A sports field, a community center, a senior center and perhaps a Catholic kindergarten are also planned at the church.

Guoga has been playing poker since he was twelve. At the poker table he is best known for his aggressive style of play and provocative behavior. That being said, many players state that he is very easy to work with away from the table.

Tony G first caught on in 2003 when he finished fifth in the World Poker Tour Main Event in Paris and Howard Lederer refused to shake his hand because of Tony G's arrogant play. In 2004 he received Guoga at the WPT for his placements in the game variants Seven Card Stud and Limit Texas Hold'em prize money. Just three months later, he received the second place in the WPT Main Event over 400,000 US dollars . In 2006 he won the WPT Bad Boys of Poker II event . He also participated in 2006 for Australia at the PartyPoker.com Football & Poker Legends Cup in part, but lost against the United States of. In 2007 he won $ 205,000 at the Moscow Millions . In 2009, Tony G took third place in No Limit Hold'em at the European High Roller Championship of the European Poker Tour in Monte-Carlo , winning 420,000 . In February 2017, he secured a spot at the 2017 Super High Roller Bowl , which was played at the Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas at the end of May 2017 . In 2014, Guoga entered the European Parliament together with Petras Auštrevičius for the Lithuanian liberal party Lietuvos Respublikos liberalų sąjūdis (LRLS) . According to LRLS board member Julija Mackevič, he intended to participate in the 2019 Lithuanian presidential election. According to Eugenijus Gentvilas , Guoga previously wanted to be mayor of Kaunas Municipality and Vilnius Municipality . In 2015, his company asked betting company "TonyBet" to bet whether Guoga would win the 2019 Lithuanian presidential election.

Until May 2016, Guoga was deputy LRLS chairman and for a few days in May 2016 provisional LRLS chairman, when the judicial institution STT suspected Eligijus Masiulis of 106,000 euros for the "trade of influence". On May 17, 2016, Guoga resigned from LRLS as he admired his colleagues on television for his views, statements, allegations to LRLS members and media entrepreneur Gedvydas Vainauskas . On October 4, 2016, Guoga also switched from the ALDE group in the European Parliament to the EPP group.

In July 2016, Guoga announced that he would run as chairman of the British UK Independence Party . He wanted to represent the citizens who regretted their election after the successful Brexit referendum.

Guoga has two sons and two daughters. The first three children are adults. Guoga has been married since June 2014 (in the civil registry office, church since August 2014). His wife, Aistė Šlapokaitė, who is seven years his junior and a former psychology student, comes from the Lithuanian city of Šiauliai and used to work as a photo model . She worked for clothing brands such as “ Armani Jeans ”, “ Prada ” and “ Max Mara ”. The couple met each other on Aistė's 30th birthday in Vilnius Night Club. You have a son (* 2015 in Brussels).
