Gedvydas Vainauskas

Gedvydas Vainauskas (born November 7, 1955 in Utena ) is a Lithuanian journalist and manager, head of UAB " Lietuvos rytas ".

Life

After graduating from the 4th Kaunas Middle School , he studied journalism at the Vilniaus universitetas in 1979 . From 1977 to 1985 he worked at “Tiesa” (Prawda), 1985–1986 at the magazine “Mokslas ir gyvenimas” as deputy editor-in-chief, from 1986 to 1989 editor at “Komjaunimo tiesa”. Since 1990 he has been the editor-in-chief and publisher of " Lietuvos rytas ", and CEO of UAB "Lietuvos rytas". He founded city newspapers “Sostinė” (Vilnius), “Laikinoji sostinė” ( Kaunas ), “ Panevėžio rytas ” ( Panevėžys ).

He is the president of BC " Lietuvos rytas Vilnius ". He has 25.5% shares in UAB “Lietuvos rytas” (2009).

From 1981 to 1991 he was a member of the CPSU .
