history

In 1999 the parish of St. Joseph was founded in Pilaitė. Then a chapel was built. Only up to 200 people can sit here, although 300 to 500 people come to Mass on Sundays.

The foundations of a church were laid on March 19, 2016 and blessed by the Archbishop of Vilnius, Gintaras Grušas . A cornerstone came from the Judean desert and was blessed by the auxiliary bishop of the Jerusalem Patriarchate . The second stone was brought from Nazareth . Four chapels, 600 seats, will be set up in the church. The area of ​​the building will be 900 m². The architects are Lithuanians Kęstutis Akelaitis, Gintaras Čaikauskas and Marius Šaliamoras. The construction costs from 3 to 3.5 million euros. One of the founders is entrepreneur Antanas Guoga (* 1973). Other buildings (a community center, a senior citizens' center, a Catholic kindergarten) and other structures (a sports field and a parking lot for 120 cars) are also being built at the church.
