David Bruce Sklansky (born December 22, 1947 in Teaneck , New Jersey ) is an American poker player and author . He is three-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker and once won the Main Event of the World Poker Tour .

Poker career

Career

Sklansky's father was a math professor at Columbia University . At the age of 12, Sklansky got the highest score in the math part of the SAT . After graduating from high school in 1966 he studied at the Wharton School of Business of the University of Pennsylvania , but ended it without examination after one year. He worked briefly as an investment advisor, but then turned to the game of poker. At that time, Texas Hold'em was not very common in casinos . Sklansky's book about it, published in 1976, laid the foundation for the popularity of this variant of poker . Having a total of 1982 and 1983 three tournaments of the World Series of Poker had won, founded in 1984 together with Sklansky Mason Malmuth , which he has given poker lessons, the book publisher Two Plus Two Publishing . Since then he has published twelve books on the strategy of the card game. He also worked as a consultant for casinos and online poker websites.

Overall, Sklansky has with Poker at live tournaments almost 1.5 million US dollars earned.

Trivia

2006 saw Sklansky through a public betting offer more than 50,000 US dollars a stir. Sklansky claimed that no fundamentalist Christian could score better than him on a standardized math test. The prerequisite was that they had previously demonstrably passed a polygraph test, in which the person concerned assured that he believed in the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the existence of hell , and furthermore that all people who do not share this view would be in the Hell would come. He was then criticized as arrogant by Ken Jennings, a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and record winner on the US television show Jeopardy .
