Willy Schärer
Wilhelm "Willy" Schärer (born September 20, 1903 in Bern ; † November 26, 1982 there ) was a Swiss athlete who specialized in the 1,500 meter run . At the Olympic Games in Paris in 1924 , the Bernese won the silver medal behind Paavo Nurmi from Finland . In this run, Schärer improved his Swiss record by 6.8 seconds. His time of 3: 55.0 minutes remained the Swiss record until 1949.
