Shahram "Shawn" Sheikhan (* 1969 in Tehran ) is a professional Iranian poker player . He is also the owner of a chain of tobacco and tattoo shops.

Career

Sheikhan is best known for his rude behavior at the poker table. At the 2005 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas there was an argument between him and Mike Matusow after Sheikhan first hit the table very hard and then told the other players what kind of hand he thought. Matusow then cursed him and both players had to leave the table for ten minutes. In March 2006 Sheikhan came to the semifinals of the National Heads-Up Poker Championship and was eliminated from the eventual winner Ted Forrest . Sheikhan received the sum of 125,000  US dollars for this . At the 2007 World Series of Poker , he placed third in the prestigious No Limit Deuce to Seven . He was also able to win a title at Poker After Dark after several attempts . Sheikhan participated in the first three seasons of High Stakes Poker . He is the only player who was only seen in one episode in a season. He did so in season two, when he lost his original entry fee of $ 100,000 and his rebuy. In Season 3 of High Stakes Poker , Sheikhan destroyed Matusow's sunglasses after announcing it earlier in the day.

To date, Sheikhan has won more than $ 1.5 million in official live poker tournaments .

While driving a car in heavy rain in 1999, there was a collision with another vehicle, and one of the occupants died. Sheikhan is married and has one daughter.

Arrest and possible deportation

In late August 2007, Sheikhan was arrested at his home in Las Vegas because the Iranian, who has lived in the United States since he was nine , allegedly assaulted a minor in 1995 for which he spent nine months in prison. For a few weeks it was unclear whether he would be deported, but the proceedings were finally dropped.
