William "Bill" Edler (born February 11, 1964 in Evanston , Illinois ) is a former professional American poker player .

Career

Edler received from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in law .

He began playing tournament poker professionally in 2005 and temporarily made it to 58th place on the all-time money list. Edler achieved his first success in spring 2007 when he took first place in a heads-up tournament in Compton . On his way to the title he left Patrik Antonius , Brad Booth , Michael Mizrachi , Ted Forrest and in the final Barry Greenstein behind. After taking part in the finals of two World Poker Tour (WPT) tournaments , in which Edler won almost 300,000 US dollars , he played an extraordinary World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas . Edler won a bracelet at the 2007 WSOP by winning $ 5,000 No Limit Hold'em , earning over $ 900,000 in prize money. The tournament was played with a maximum of six players per table ( shorthanded ). At the final table Edler defeated Erik Friberg , Dutch Boyd and Tony G, among others . Edler played an excellent main event after his triumph . He finished 23rd out of over 6,300 entrants for $ 333,490 in prize money. Just six weeks after the 2007 WSOP, Edler won his first WPT title. At the tournament in Biloxi , he won just under $ 750,000.

Edler made his last tournament win in January 2011. In his poker career, he made just under 3.5 million US dollars through official live poker tournaments.
