Dutch Boyd (born December 24, 1980 in Columbia , Missouri ; actually Russell "Russ" Aaron Boyd ) is a professional American poker player and author . He is three-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .
Personal
Boyd attended college at the age of twelve and began studying law at 18 . He lives in Las Vegas .
Poker career
Career
Boyd was inspired by John Dahl's film Rounders about poker. His grandmother taught him the game. Boyd has been participating in renowned live tournaments since 2002 .
Boyd's first major success came in May 2003 when he narrowly missed the final table of the World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event at Binion's Horseshoe in Las Vegas, finishing twelfth for $ 80,000 . In the 2006 WSOP in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino , he won a tournament variant No-Limit Hold'em , which him his first bracelet brought and more than 475,000 US dollars in prize money. Apart from the World Series , he won a tournament as part of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas at the end of November 2007 and received a prize of more than 200,000 US dollars. Boyd secured another bracelet at the 2010 World Series of Poker . He won his third bracelet in June 2014 with just under 300,000 US dollars in prize money.
In total, Boyd has earned more than $ 2.5 million in poker in live tournaments. In March 2014 he published the book Poker Tilt together with Laurence Samuels , which he financed with the help of the Internet platform Kickstarter .
