Eliahu "Eli" Ilan Elezra ( Hebrew אלי אלעזרא; * November 24, 1960 in Jerusalem ) is a professional American - Israeli poker player . He is four-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker and once won the Main Event of the World Poker Tour . As part of the 50th edition of the World Series of Poker , Elezra was named as one of the 50 best players in poker history in June 2019 .

Personal

Elezra headed an army command in Israel. There he sustained a leg injury. During this time he learned to play poker . Before turning pro poker, he owned the first express photo business in the United States.

Poker career

Career

Elezra plays mostly cash games and played high stakes poker for the first six seasons of the television format . He is one of the best cash game players in the world and is known for his extremely aggressive style of play. Elezra also made it to a few places in the prize money at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas . In July 2004, Elezra won the Mirage Poker Showdown on the World Poker Tour for a profit of over $ 1 million . At the 2008 WSOP , he won his first bracelet in a tournament of the Stud variant . He defeated Scotty Nguyen in heads-up and won nearly $ 200,000. In the run-up to the tournament, he had made a bet with Barry Greenstein that would earn him $ 250,000 if he won. 2013 won Elezra his second bracelet and 173,236 US dollars in the 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball in heads-up against Daniel Negreanu . At the 2015 WSOP , the third bracelet followed after winning an event in Seven Card Stud with a prize of around 110,000 dollars. After reaching two final tables at the 2018 WSOP , he won his fourth bracelet in 2019 by winning a tournament in the Seven Card Stud variant .

In total, Elezra has made more than $ 3.5 million in poker playing live tournaments. He lives in Las Vegas .
