Nam Thien Le (born September 10, 1980 in Irvine , California ) is a professional American poker player of Vietnamese descent.

Personal

Le grew up in Southern California . He lives in Huntington Beach .

Poker career

Le learned a lot about the game from his friend Tuan Le and made his living playing cash games in Los Angeles as early as 2004 . He was also in close contact with JC Tran , Quinn Do and David Rheem , who encouraged him to take up tournament poker. Nam Le has been participating in prestigious live tournaments since 2004 .

Mid-December 2004 reached Le at the Main Event of the World Poker Tour in the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas the final table and received a prize of more than 150,000 for his sixth US dollars . In June 2005 he was successful for the first time at the World Series of Poker and came in the money in three tournaments of the No Limit Hold'em variant . In early March 2006, Le won the WPT Main Event in San José with a prize money of around 1.2 million US dollars. In mid-June 2006, Le also won the Scotty Nguyen Poker Challenge in Tulsa for over $ 200,000. At the 2006 WSOP, he reached a final table and failed in this tournament only in the heads-up on Australian Mark Vos . Le received more than $ 400,000 in prize money for his second place. In June 2007 , he was again at a WSOP final table and finished third in a Hold'em event for nearly $ 250,000. In late February 2008, Le came to the final table of the WPT Main Event in Los Angeles and finished the tournament in fourth place for more than $ 400,000 in prize money. In mid-September 2008 he won the high roller of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour in Macau with a prize money equivalent to almost 500,000 US dollars. At the end of October 2008, he finished second behind Frenchman Bertrand Grospellier at the WPT Main Event at the Bellagio and received prize money of almost 950,000 US dollars. In mid-March 2014, Le reached the final table of the Main Event of the World Poker Tour for the sixth time , finishing fifth in San José for more than $ 220,000.

In total, Le has earned almost US $ 7.5 million from poker in live tournaments.
