Philip "Phil" Galfond (born January 16, 1985 in North Potomac , Maryland ) is a professional American poker player . He is three-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker . As part of the 50th edition of the World Series of Poker , he was named one of the 50 best players in poker history in June 2019 .

Personal

Galfond attended Thomas Sprigg Wootton High School in Rockville and later studied philosophy at the University of Wisconsin – Madison . Galfond has been married to actress Farah Fath since 2015 and lives with her in New York City . At the end of 2018, the couple became parents of a son.

Poker career

Career

Galfond plays online under the nicknames OMGClayAiken ( Full Tilt Poker ) , MrSweets28 ( PokerStars ) and Jman28 ( 2 + 2 ) . At Full Tilt , he is with gains of over 6.5 million US dollars from 650,000 hands in cash games is the fifth most successful player of all time. In total, he has made more than ten million dollars in profit on Full Tilt . Since 2006 Galfond has also participated in prestigious live tournaments .

Galfond first won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in July 2006 and made two money. At the 2008 WSOP he won at a tournament in the variant PLO and received a bracelet and more than 800,000 dollars in prize money. Two years later, Galfond finished 141st out of 7,319 players in the WSOP Main Event . In 2013 , he finished second behind Steve Sung in a $ 25,000 WSOP for just under $ 750,000. In mid-June 2015 , Galfond secured his second bracelet and around $ 225,000 in prize money by winning the World Championship in No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball . At the 2018 WSOP , he won the Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo 8 or Better Championship and received his third bracelet and just under $ 570,000 in prize money.

In total, Galfond has made almost three million dollars playing poker in live tournaments. He appeared in the fourth, sixth and seventh seasons of the television format High Stakes Poker . From April to November 2016 , Galfond played as part of the San Francisco Rush in the Global Poker League and made it to the playoffs with his team.
