Suk-Min "Steve" Sung (born April 15, 1985 in Seoul , South Korea ) is a professional American - South Korean poker player . He is two-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .
Personal
Sung came to the United States from South Korea with his family at the age of seven. He studied computer engineering and economics at the University of California at San Diego . Sung lives in Torrance .
Poker career
Career
Sung watched his father play poker, which sparked his interest in the game. In high school he started playing poker with friends himself. Sung has been taking part in renowned live tournaments since 2005 . He plays on the online poker platform PokerStars under the nickname MuGGyLiCiOuS .
In December 2006, Sung took third place in a tournament of the Five Diamond World Poker Classic as part of the World Poker Tour (WPT) at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas , winning around $ 125,000 in prize money. A few days later, he finished ninth in the Series Main Event, earning nearly $ 120,000. In June 2007 , Sung won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for the first time , making four money places, including two final tables and a cash in the main event . In mid-October 2017, he reached his first final table at the WPT Main Event and took fourth place in Barcelona, worth almost 120,000 euros . In March 2008, Sung was again at the final table of a WPT main event and finished second in San José behind Brandon Cantu for $ 585,000. In mid-December 2008 he made it to the final table again at the WPT's Five Diamond World Poker Classic and finished in second place, which was paid for just under $ 400,000. In the 2009 WSOP won Sung a tournament variant No Limit Hold'em and secured a prize money of more than 770,000 dollars in prize money and a bracelet . After reaching other final tables of the WSOP just a few days later and in 2010 and 2011 , Sung secured his second bracelet with more than $ 1.2 million in prize money at the end of June 2013 . In mid-October 2018, he won the Wynn Fall Classic at Wynn Las Vegas with a prize of around $ 170,000. In March 2019, Sung finished third at the WPT Main Event in Los Angeles for just under $ 260,000.
In total, Sung has made more than six million dollars playing poker in live tournaments.
