Massimiliano "Max" Pescatori (born January 22, 1971 in Milan ) is a professional Italian poker player . He is nicknamed The Italian Pirate ( German  , Italian pirate ) and four-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker .

Poker career

Career

Pescatori started playing poker with family and friends at a young age . In 1999 he began his living with the variant Seven Card Stud to earn. After his friends introduced him to Hold'em , he intensified his game and from 2002 took part in renowned live tournaments . At tournaments he often wears soccer jerseys for the Italian national team or AC Milan .

In 2004 he played for the first time at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas . Pescatori earned his first major prize money on August 14, 2004 when he won the Legends of Poker in Los Angeles for more than 100,000 US dollars . In July 2006 he won a tournament at the WSOP for the first time and secured a bracelet and almost 700,000 US dollars in prize money. Pescatori got his second bracelet in June 2008 in a mixed Hold'em and Omaha tournament. He was twice successful at the 2015 WSOP , winning tournaments in Seven Card Razz and Seven Card Stud Hi-Low .

In total, Pescatori has earned more than 4.5 million US dollars with poker in live tournaments, making him the third most successful Italian poker player behind Mustapha Kanit and Dario Sammartino . From April to November 2016 Pescatori played as team manager of the Rome Emperors in the Global Poker League , but missed the playoffs with his team.
