Poker career

Career

She played her first poker hand in 1999 when her partner and also professional poker player Jan-Christoph "50outs" von Halle asked her to represent him in a game of Seven Card Stud . Initially, she primarily played cash games , which are held on the side at major tournaments. In 2003, she played in the Mirage in Las Vegas against 140 participants their first major tournament in the variant No-Limit Hold'em and won. After she was knocked out at side events of the World Poker Tour in Tunica five times in a row shortly before the limit for the prize money (in poker jargon: “at the bubble”), she was jokingly referred to as the bubble girl .

She herself appears on the Internet under the nickname MissSlick , and because of her aggressive style of play, she was sometimes referred to as Lady Horror . At the Poker Nations Cup 2006 in Cardiff she played under the leadership of captain Michael Keiner in the six-person team Germany. From summer 2006 she was a member of Team PokerStars . Thater reached at the World Series of Poker in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in 2007 two final tables and won then a bracelet in the variant Razz . At the final table she defeated Men "The Master" Nguyen , Mark Vos , Paul "Eskimo" Clark, among others , and won more than $ 130,000 . In December 2007 she received the “Europe's Leading Lady” award at the European Poker Awards in Paris. In May 2010 she was named the best mixed game player on the European Poker Tour and received the "EPT Mixed Game Award" for season 6. On June 30, 2011, PokerStars ended the arrangement by mutual agreement and Thater left Team PokerStars .

Thater achieved her last live money placement to date in January 2016. In total, she has earned almost 450,000 US dollars with poker in live tournaments.
