Aurochs from Vig

The aurochs von Vig ( Danish Urokse fra Vig ; Eng . Ur von Vig) is one of only two complete auroch skeletons that were found in Odsherred on the Danish island of Zealand . The other is the aurochs from Prejlerup . Both finds belong to the time of the Maglemose culture .

Found in 1904 in a garden on today's Uroksevej, in Vig south of Jyderup, to 7500 BC. Two arrowheads of the Klosterlund type are wedged together. It's in the National Museum .

The Prejlerup aurochs was found just three kilometers from Vig in 1983. It is in the Zoological Museum in Copenhagen and was dated around 6400 BC. Dated. This Ur, in whose complete skeleton six arrowheads were still found, died in a bog. In Jutland , aurochs survived until the Iron Age (500 BC)

An almost complete skeleton from Himmelev is in the Roskilde Museum . There are seven other partial finds in Denmark.
