Daniel Christopher Alaei (born July 28, 1984 in Santa Fe Springs , California ) is a professional American poker player of Iranian descent. He is five-time bracelet winner of the World Series of Poker and once won the Main Event of the World Poker Tour .

Poker career

Career

Alaei is a specialist in cash games of variant No Limit Texas Hold'em . He participated in the first three seasons of the television format High Stakes Poker . In addition to his cash game successes, Alaei is also a well respected tournament player . At the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in 2006 he won a tournament in the No Limit Deuce to Seven Draw variant and thus his first bracelet . Alaei has won a total of five bracelets . Alaei also achieved respectable results at the WSOP main events . While he was 59th in 2004 and 140th in 2005 , Alaei made a name for himself in 2007 with 25th place out of over 6000 participants. He received over $ 330,000 for this achievement . His best result outside of the WSOP was achieved in May 2005 in a $ 300 rebuy tournament at the Commerce Casino in Los Angeles when he received a $ 133,000 prize for first place among 526 participants. In December 2009, Alaei won the Five Diamond World Poker Classic of the World Poker Tour (WPT) at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas and was promoted to one of the WPT winners. This tournament alone nearly doubled its tournament income; first place earned him just under $ 1.5 million.

Overall, Alaei has earned almost $ 7.5 million playing poker in live tournaments. He played online under the nicknames steamraise ( PokerStars ) and FakeSky ( Full Tilt Poker ) .
