Porcieu-Amblagnieu is located about 45 kilometers east-northeast of Lyon on the Rhone . Porcieu-Amblagnieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sault-Brenaz in the north, Villebois in the north and east, Montalieu-Vercieu in the south and south-east, Charette in the south-west and Parmilieu in the west and north-west.
The former route nationale 75 (today's D1075) runs through the municipality .
